Graphic Design
Costs for graphic design vary based on the simplicity or complexity of the design you want for your project. Obviously, a more detailed and complicated design takes much longer to complete and will, therefore, cost a little more. We pride ourselves in supplying a quality project for a nominal charge. Go ahead -- price other designers and printers!  We dare you! We know you will find that our "bang for the buck" is much better! We ALWAYS create designs on which we proudly would display our name!

When we design a project, it is copyrighted and becomes the property of Printing By Designs. If you, however, pay for a design you may use it however you want to. Should you have a need to use the design that we created and you paid us for in an ad, for instance, we will be glad to provide the publisher with the files needed for publication for you at no charge. There are situations where we may have created an ad for you to be used in a publication that we published and printed for another client. For instance, if you bought an ad in a resort magazine that we publish for one of our clients, we may create the ad for you at no charge as a courtesy to the resort magazine. If you wanted to use that same ad for another publication you may do so for a $75.00 flat fee to us.  There is no charge for two proofs for each project.  For projects for which you request additional changes after two proofs you will be charged additional design fees, plus $5 for each additional proof.

Want To Create Your Own Design?

There are a few guidelines which must be followed exactly for us to be able to use your files. You may certainly send a rough draft of what you would like for us to design for you, or you may design the whole project yourself.
  • Platforms supported: Macintosh and Windows
  • Software Compatability: Quark Express 6.5, Illustrator, Photoshop 6.0, Microsoft Publisher, and Microsoft Word (very limited)
  • Color: Set up your project in CMYK only. Do NOT use RGB. ALL BLACK TEXT MUST BE 100% BLACK (C=0, M=0, Y=0, K=100).
  • Graphics: Files must be saved as TIFF, JPEG, EPS, or PDF and they must be AT LEAST 266 dpi. Low resolution pictures and graphics do not print clearly and are very grainy and pixelated. DO NOT USE PICTURES YOU HAVE SAVED FROM WEB PAGES. This is because graphics and pictures used on the 'net are almost always very low (72 dpi) resolution. Even if you re-save them as 300 dpi, they started out as 72 dpi and will never be good, sharp pictures. If you scan pictures or graphics, be sure to scan them and save them at 266 or 300 dpi for the best clarity and results.
  • Fonts: Include all fonts that you use and don't forget fonts used in placed graphics.
  • Image Size: Our maximum print size is 11x17 - minus 1/16" bleed.
  • Bleed: Should your design require a bleed, take into consideration that the canvas size, or background layer, must be 1/16" on each side larger than your image size to allow for trim.
